When I was eight years old my father handed me a camera and told me to shoot some pictures of a boat he was building. It was fun but I got in trouble for shooting the entire roll of film. At about the same time I met a little blond girl that lived around the corner in the sleepy town of El Segundo, CA. I was inspired by Mr. Toddy my high school art teacher and influenced greatly by Mr. Blusk, my design teacher at El Camino Junior College. Mr. Potts and Mr. Todd Walker at Art Center College of Design in L.A. pushed and refined my skills. Somewhere along the way the little blond girl agreed to marry me.
Before I was able to graduate from Art Center, the U.S. Army demanded my attendance but I eventually completed my obligation to my country, graduated from college and married the blond from around the corner. In January 1970 I opened a commercial photography business in L.A. that was thriving for 31 years. In 2014 my wife and I moved to Prescott. We left behind four children and one grandchild. The last 15 years have given me time and perspective to explore my interest in fine arts photography. My education influenced the design aspect of taking photographs. Prescott has offered a more relaxed environment in which to pursue this interest.
